Casa Aquilea is an old farmhouse dating back to 1820, the last house of the village of Aquilea, a lively ancient village just out of a painter's sketch book, at the top of a hill not far from Lucca. The house has been renovated in 2003 creating the large pool and fencing the property transforming it into a place totally adapted to easy modern day living while enhancing its charm and breathtakingly panoramic view over the Tuscan hills.
Access to the property is limited to small cars due to the narrow wall enclosed village street leading to it, which in turn provides for no traffic, calm and security to the house.
A wide covered terrace leads to the color washed kitchen with its antique hearth and impressive hood. The ceramic tiles covering the built-in kitchen furniture are antique and hand-made in Vietri. The comfortable sitting room has a working fireplace, a bathroom and an entrance to the utility room. Upstairs there are 4 bedrooms with built in closet and 2 bathrooms. Just above the house, is the 'Casina', the dependence, immersed in the olive-grove with its own entrance, garden, and private access to the pool. It has one bedroom, kitchen, sitting room and bathroom. The property has also a wide roofed garage and large storage. The pool, with its roman stairs, is salt-filtered and surrounded by ancient flagstones. The enclosed garden numbers a hundred olive trees currently producing the finest quality olive oil, as well as various fruit trees.

Casa Aquilea è un antico casale del 1820, ultima casa del paese di Aquilea, vivace borgo antico uscito da un quaderno di schizzi di un pittore, in cima ad una collina non lontano da Lucca. La casa è stata ristrutturata nel 2003, con la creazione di un’ampia piscina e recinzione di tutta la proprietà, trasformandola in un luogo totalmente adattato al facile vivere moderno, esaltandone il fascino e la vista panoramica mozzafiato sulle colline toscane.
L'accesso alla proprietà è limitato ad auto di piccole dimensioni a causa della strada stretta di paese che vi conduce, che a sua volta garantisce assenza di traffico, calma e sicurezza alla casa.
Un'ampia terrazza coperta conduce alla cucina colorata con il suo antico focolare e l'imponente cappa. Le piastrelle in ceramica che rivestono i mobili della cucina in muratura sono antiche e fatte a mano a Vietri. Il confortevole soggiorno ha un caminetto funzionante, un bagno e un ingresso nel ripostiglio. Al piano superiore ci sono 4 camere da letto con armadio a muro e 2 bagni. Appena sopra la casa si trova la Casina, la dependance, immersa nell'oliveto, ha ingresso indipendente, giardino e accesso privato alla piscina. E’ composta da una camera da letto, cucina, soggiorno e bagno. Completano la proprietà un ampio garage coperto e ripostiglio. La piscina, con la sua scala romana, è filtrata a sale e circondata da antiche lastre di pietra. Il giardino recintato conta un centinaio di olivi che attualmente producono olio d'oliva della migliore qualità, oltre a vari alberi da frutto.
